Play Study Win selected to run full
after-school programs in NYC Middle schools!
We proud to announce that Play Study Win has been selected
by the Department of Youth and Community Development
to run full after-school programs at 8 locations.
The grant is part of the Mayor's initiative that began
with Universal pre-K and now expands opportunities so
that every Middle Schooler in public and charter schools
has accesss to a quality and developmentally-appropriate
after school program.
What used to be called OST has been renamed Schools
Out New York City (SONYC), which serves as a pathway
to success for youth in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Structured
like clubs, the model offers youth choice in how they
spend their time; provides rigorous instruction in sports
and arts; and requires youth leadership through service.
NYC becomes the classroom through trips and opportunities
for instruction beyond the traditional facilities.
Play Study Win was successful in obtaining 5 of these
multi-year grants. "Our Leadership in Action
programs build on what we achieved last year with our
21st Century grant," noted Ian Walker, President
of Play Study Win. "We will now be providing
a full range of academic, intellectual and sporting
and artistic activies for hundreds of New York City
school children for the entire school year and beyond."
