Award-winning robotics program at Salve Regina Catholic Academy to relaunch for the upcoming 22-23 school year

Lego Robotics – STEM Learning

 

For the upcoming school year, our SONYC after-school program at Salve Regina Catholic Academy in Brooklyn, NY will relaunch the award-winning robotics program. Our students will be using the BricQ Motion Prime and the Lego Education Spike Prime Set along with the Spike Prime Expansion Set. Our goal for this school year is to lay a foundation with the robotics program so we can 

Through Lego Robotics our students will actively experiment and explore to gain, deepen, and apply new knowledge and skills essential to success in future education and careers. Lego Robotics sets also foster the following: 

  • Resilience and perseverance
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Communication skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Independence
  • Imagination and creativity
  • Planning skills

The relaunch of the Robotics program here at Salve Regina Catholic Academy will follow the blueprint of the award-winning robotics program with the goal of participating in the Lego First League.

Game-Based learning after-school with Minecraft Education at Salve Regina Catholic Academy

ESPORTS – MINECRAFT ANNOUNCEMENT

 

This year our SONYC after-school program will integrate Minecraft education as part of our E-sports program at Salve Regina Catholic Academy. Minecraft: Education Edition is suitable for any age student and covers all grade levels. Minecraft: Education Edition prepares students for the future, building future-ready skills like creativity, problem-solving, and systems thinking and nurturing a passion for play. Build empathy and learn digital citizenship. Our goal is for our middle school students to benefit from the following:

  • DRIVE MEANINGFUL LEARNING
    Explore real-world issues in immersive, imaginative worlds
  • PREPARE FOR THE DIGITAL FUTURE
    Computational thinking with in-game coding and curriculum
  • SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SKILLS
