CORNHOLE

Welcome to the 2024 Play Study Win Cornhole tournament!

What: 2024 Play Study Win Cornhole Tournament. Open to PSW students, staff and host-school staff.
When: Winter 2024. Practice & design – January. Elimination rounds – February. Finals – March
Where: Elimination rounds will take place in PSW Schools, with the finals taking place in a central City location.
How: In January, we will deliver all equipment to each school. That is, two cornhole boxes, and all the required beanbags. The boxes are plain and unfinished and should be painted. The theme is “2024, the Year of…” We have the Curator from a major NY Art Gallery to judge the artwork. The best designed boxes will win a gift certificate for the designer(s) and a pizza party for the winning PSW site.
The Rules:
Each team will be comprised of two people.  They can be two students, two staff or a mix of student and staff.  Here are the rules and scoring for Cornhole*. (Scoring works like this. If Team One wins the first end by 7 points to 4, then the game score will be the difference, i.e. 3 points to Team One. If Team Two wins the second end by 8 points to 1, then they score 7 points and the  game score will be 7 to 3 to Team Two. The first team to 21 points wins the round. *We have one change to the scoring. If a team scores more than 21 points, i.e. “busts,” their score will revert to 15 points and they will continue until one team or another gets exactly 21 points. This requires some degree of strategy and basic math skills.)
The Prizes: Each team that wins their own sites’ elimination round will receive clothing and gift certificates. Each individual site winner will then proceed to the Grand Final where they have the chance to win more gift certificates and another prize for their school.
The Cost: No cost to you. No entry fee. Expenses will not be taken out of your budget, except perhaps for any expenses you need for paint and brushes.
Other rules: Individuals can only play on one team. Someone from PSW will be at each elimination round to provide guidance and adjudication on scoring, rules and any other questions that come up.

Have Fun!
